Track Training

Under the leadership of Paul Mitchinson, Victory Athletics Club are launching track training sessions.

Day: Monday
Venue: Mountbatten Sports Centre, Alex Way, Portsmouth, PO2 9QA
Time: 6.30pm

Please pay £3.35 at reception and meet at the 200m mark at 6.30pm ready for a 10 minute warm up and some strides.

Session 11: Monday 30 September, 6.30pm
KM reps- Group 1: 5 x 1km 
Group 2: 3 to 4  x 1km

Session 10: Monday 16 September, 6.30pm
12 x 400m reps with 2 minute recovery.

Session 9: Monday 9 September, 6.30pm
1 mile time trial (maximum effort) followed by 5x3 mins at 10k pace with 90 seconds jog recovery.

Session 8: Monday 2 September, 6.30pm
Paarlauf session: 300m efforts with 100m jog recovery for 25 minutes.

Session 7: Monday 19 August, 6.30pm
2x 400, 800, 1200 with 90 seconds recovery between reps and 3 minute recovery between the sets.

Session 6: Monday 12 August, 6.30pm - 
200m - 400m - 600m - 800m - 1000m - 800m - 600m - 400m - 200m with a mix of jog recoveries and static 2 minute recoveries

Session 5: Monday 5 August, 6.30pm - 
6 x 800m reps with 2 minutes recovery.

Session 4: Monday 22 July, 6.30pm - 
12 x 400m interval session

Session 3: Monday 15 July, 6.30pm - 
Pyramid session: 200 - 400 - 600 - 800 - 1000 - 800 - 600 - 400 - 200 with recovery.

Session 2: Monday 1 July, 6.30pm - 
6 x 800m reps with 2-3 minute recoveries. 

There will be 2 groups: Group 1 is for those who run 400m reps in under 1:45 (or plan to do 800m in 7:00 mins/miles).

Group 2 is for those outside of these times. This will allow adequate recovery times for all runners.

Session 1: Monday 24 June, 6.30pm - 
The first session will be 12 x 400m reps at slightly faster than goal 5k pace.
Please look at the chart below and check to see what your splits should be.
There will be a 2 minute recovery between reps.


Sign in at reception and meet at the 200m mark on the track at 6.30pm, ready for a 10 minute warm up, followed by some strides.
The session will last approximately 35-40 minutes and will be followed by a warm down.
