Track Training

Under the leadership of Paul Mitchinson, Victory Athletics Club launched track training sessions in September 2019.

Day: Monday
Venue: Mountbatten Sports Centre, Alex Way, Portsmouth, PO2 9QA
Time: 6.30pm

Please pay £3.35 at reception and meet at the 200m mark at 6.30pm ready for a 10 minute warm up and some strides.

Sessions last approximately 35-40 minutes and will be followed by a warm down.

The focus of these sessions going forward will be upcoming road race league races. Take a look at the pace chart and familiarise yourselves with your goal or PB race pace. You should be running faster than this during your reps in order to feel more comfortable at race pace.

Sample of sessions below - 
KM reps 
12 x 400m reps with 2 minute recovery.
1 mile time trial (maximum effort) followed by 5x3 mins at 10k pace with 90 seconds jog recovery.
Paarlauf session: 300m efforts with 100m jog recovery for 25 minutes.
2x 400m, 800m, 1200m with 90 seconds recovery between reps and 3 minute recovery between the sets.
Pyramid session - 200m - 400m - 600m - 800m - 1000m - 800m - 600m - 400m - 200m with a mix of jog recoveries and static 2 minute recoveries
6 x 800m reps with 2 minutes recovery.
