Club Welfare Officers required

Club Welfare Officers
The Committee is seeking to appoint Club Welfare Officers in line with guidance from England Athletics.
Could this be you?
The Welfare Officer role is described here, and also in this short video.
"Welfare covers a range of issues such as safeguarding and protecting children and adults, anti-bullying, poor practice in coaching and disciplinary matters. It encompasses policies and procedures to set out minimum standards of expectations, such as codes of conduct, procedures to follow for dealing with child protection concerns, other welfare issues or complaints, and to ensure that England Athletics, clubs and associations meet their statutory responsibilities to safeguard and protect children and adults" (from the EA Club Welfare page)
In another short video England Athletics says "Clubs should appoint a minimum of two Welfare Officers perferably one male and one female". We would like to appoint more than two Welfare Officers so that you can support and help each as you go through training and then share the responsibilities as you step into this important role. At least one Welfare Officer will join the Club Committee.
To become a Club Welfare Officer you should first email Bridget (secretary@victoryac.org.uk) to express your interest, and when approved by the Committee you will need to:
- apply for a UKA Enhanced DBS check
- complete the Safeguarding in Athletics online training and
- attend a Time to Listen webinar-based workshop
Further details of the process can be viewed here. The Club will of course pay the costs of the training.
Please give this your consideration and let Bridget know if you can help us. Thank you.
